It's become obvious to me that I need to do something with Mairi. The flattery and kind encouragement of and along with their gift art and the attention that's given to Mairi from others has shown me that she's a really good character that deserves her own story! To that end, I've written up a more formal little bit of history for her.

Name: Mairi McBaan
Universe: SATAM Sonic the Hedgehog
Concept: A sheep in wolf's clothing
Description: A female Sheep, medium height, same age as the rest of the Freedom Fighters. She always wears a wolf-skin cloak with ears still on the hood. She is not a focused expert in anything, but is a jack-of-all-trades, with a little knowledge of most trivia and subjects, and able to use almost any weapon with an appreciable degree of skill - not enough to compare favorably to anyone who's an expert in the weapon, but enough to keep herself alive no matter what happens to be at hand.

Mairi was the daughter of a scholar and a librarian, so her house was always suffused with books. She learned to read at an incredibly young age. When Robotnik took over, Mairi escaped his robotic minions into the Great Forest. She lived on her own for a long while, surviving as best she could by hiding and foraging for food. Always a little timid, she was outright terrified of all the things she knew could go wrong - being found by Robotnik, being eaten by wild animals, mis-remembering something she'd read and eating a poisonous leaf, breaking a limb, anything.

One day, she was attacked by a lone, wild wolf. (not a person, just an animal) Cornered, she faced off against it and through a stroke of luck, managed to kill it. Suffused with adrenaline, she felt fierce and alive and powerful, but that soon passed. As it was getting cold, she skinned the wolf and made a cloak out of its pelt for herself, but she also found that when danger was approaching, she felt safer if she wrapped herself up in the cloak. Initially, this just reminded her that she'd faced an impossible situation and had survived, but slowly it started becoming a mnemonic that let her mentally escape her fear and become the fierce warrior she wished that she was.

Finally, she gained enough confidence to return to Robotropolis and, avoiding the SWATBOTS as best she could, start salvaging what books she could from the defiled city and creating a secret underground library. For what purpose, she wasn't sure, as she didn't know if there were any survivors anywhere in the world, but she needed a purpose, and her parents had always said that knowledge was the only thing that stood between the world and disaster.

While collecting and reading the books, she stuck not only to scholarly subjects, but also started researching old books and scrolls detailing weapons techniques and combat. She started practicing with her eclectic tastes, and started collecting weapons along with the books. Now, her library's bookshelves are all dual-purpose - in normal mode, they look like normal bookshelves, but at the push of a button, they'll rotate around to hide and protect the books and instead reveal the arsenal of weapons, from clubs to blaster rifles, that she has also collected.

With her hood down, she's Mairi the sheep, a timid, quiet scholar who loves books. With her hood up, she's Mairi the wolf, a fierce but stealthy warrior that's full of confidence. She's a torn character who only reaches her full power when she's protecting her library, and draws from the strength of both her personas.
